EXPERTS looking for evidence of a big cat attack on two mutilated deer carcasses yesterday have drawn a blank.
The discovery of the half-eaten bodies on National Trust land in the Cotswolds last month sparked fears of a big cat prowling the area. The first animal was found in deer-rich Woodchester Park in Stroud, Gloucestershire, on January 4 and the second a few miles away around a week later by a woman walking her dog.
Extensive DNA tests have been carried out and appear to suggest that the animals died naturally and their carcasses were fed on by foxes.
National Trust head ranger for Gloucestershire, David Armstrong, said: “People love a mystery like this and although we haven’t found a wild cat, many of our visitors clearly believe there might be something interesting living in Woodchester.”If you have any news on this item please let us know by leaving a comment or email bcib@btopenworld.com Please report any sightings at http://www.bigcatsinbritain.org/localreportform.htm If you wish to comment on any of the items please click the header of the story.
