Sixty-six-year-old Michael Greatrex spotted the massive prints in mud in a field off Boulters Lane in Wood End as he walked his dog over the Christmas holidays.
He told the Herald: "I was walking down the edge of the field when I noticed some massive paw prints in the mud.
"I was shocked at the size of them. I am open-minded about whether there is a big cat out there – I don't know, but I don't see how these paw prints could have been made by anything else.
"I showed my daughter the picture and she said: "do you think that is the cause of the dogs going missing from the area?
"That was something I hadn't thought about, but I suppose it could be a possibility", he added.
There have been four reported sightings of the big cat in the area in the last few months, including reports from a police officer who lives in Baddesley Ensor who said she had seen the big cat twice in November, in fields between Baddesley and Baxterley.
Over the last ten years there have been scores of sightings of the creature.
Described by most people as a black sleek creature, it is believed to most likely be a melanistic leopard, commonly referred to as a black panther.
